Roco was founded by Heinz Rössler in 1960, and has produced a wide range of model railways for various markets in scales from N to 0, together with narrow gauge models. Roco have produced models on behalf of other manufacturers and resellers, including Atlas, Trix, AHM, Hornby Hobbies (track) and Walthers among others. Roco purchased the tooling of Rowa to expand the range in 1975, but, by 2005, was facing financial difficulties. Fleischmann and Roco merged under a new name, Modelleisenbahn Holding GmbH.
