A Bucherer & Cie was founded in 1919 by August Bucherer, an ex Marklin employee (1907-11), producing wooden toys, metal figures and an expensive large scale clockwork powered garden railway system. That company was bankrupt by 1926, and replaced by A Bucherer & Co AG (Buco) the same year, producing wooden promotional times and toys. The Buco 0 gauge railway system was introduced in 1947, initially clockwork powered, electric trains joining the range in 1948. H0 models followed in 1954, produced in conjunction with the Austrian manufacturer Liliput. The original Buco company ceased production in 1957.
