Karl Bub founded his eponymous company in Nuremberg in 1851, to produce tin toys, adding clockwork powered floor trains to the range in 1903, followed by clockwork trains with tracks in 1905 and electric trains, 1914. Nuremberg was the centre of German toy making, and Bub is known to have worked closely with other Nuremberg manufactures, not least Carette and Issmayer, together with Bing and Tipp. Over the years, Bub produced trains in gauges 1, 0, S and 00, and, in 1932, opened a factory in Aylesbury, UK. See also British Bub, Dunham and White and Betal. Bub finally ceased all production in 1966.
