Tinkertoy, now part of Hasbro is a toy construction system designed in 1914, and initially wooden, with a range of spools, wheels, sticks, pulleys and other similar parts. The distinctive sticks (rods) were pale naural wood for nearly fifty years, after which coloured rods were issued, colour coded by length. Modern Tinkertoy parts are a combination of classic wood and coloured plastic.
