Although neither coarse scale nor tinplate, the 3F Jinty model released in 1990 by Stephen J Maris of Specialised Products deserves a special mention as perhaps the first modern 'affordable' ready to run 0 scale model loco released in the UK. The Jinty models were batch built using a combination of resin, fibreglass and etched components, with compensated chassis. The models were finished in plain black, and retailed for a very reasonable £160. Further models were understood to be LMS 4F and SDJR 2-8-0, but sadly Stephen Maris passed away before completion of either project.
