Societa Meccanica La Precisa was established in 1922, building radio equipment. Two US companies, Fada of New York and later, Crosley, began expanding their export market within Europe but not directly to Italy due to protectionist laws then in force. Initially Fada, then Crosley, engaged Societa Meccanica La Precisa to build radio equipment on their behalf, to be retailed within Italy.
The Lionel Corporation contracted Societa Meccanica La Precisa to produce tooling for locomotives, perhaps the best known being the scale model 700E Hudson locomotive of 1937.
