Card, Wood, Composition Models

Buildings were supplied in various combinations of card, wood and composition board, usually with pre printed windows in cellulose or similar material, in kit form, although some early (pre war) wooden buildings were ready made. There were at least four series of box, the first being blue and white with the heading Skyline Builder top left, and Schoenhut Toys Since 1872 on the right, the Schoenhut reference presumed to convey continuity. The second series of box was plain blue with a red and white label, showing a monochrome image of the box contents. Later boxes were printed in colour, predominantly yellow, in at least two styles.

Initial sets appear to have been issued in the 6xx series, with subsequent kits numbered 2xx and 4xx. Model ships were 5xx series, and backdrops 7xx series. Sets other than ships are illustrated below in numerical rather than date order. Kits may be described on the boxes as suitable for 0 Gauge, H0 Gauge or All Gauge.
