Meccano Raylo

The Meccano Raylo set was closer to today's 00 than 0 in size, and is the first railway set produced by Meccano Limited in 1915, five years before 0 gauge Hornby Trains were launched in 1920 and twenty three years before the launch of Hornby Dublo, 1938.

The Raylo set was a game rather than a train set, and featured a clockwork 0-4-0 loco (without tender), and a set of pre formed rails, in a leather bound carton. The Raylo locomotive was manufacturered in Germany by Marklin, on behalf of Meccano Limited.
