Maurlyn (Maurice and Lyn Gold) of Sydney was established in 1941, to manufacture pressed steel toys, expanding in 1948 to produce pressed aluminium trains the first of which was a clockwork powered 4-6-2 tender loco, Spirit of Progress. The Maurlyn range was not large, comprising two locomotives, clockwork or electric, two passenger cars and two freight cars. Track and controllers were bought in, with production ceasing in 1957.
