The early history of JJP Models is vague, although it is known that the owner was William Dennis King, who passed away March 2025, aged 93, and his shop was named JJP Models after his three children, Josephine, Joseph and Pauline. The business was a fully fledged model shop in the 1970s, selling everything from kits and parts to train sets in all popular scales. At some point, JJP acquired parts from CCW and, by circa 1990, JJP Models was owned by Nick Tilson. It is known that P and D Marsh acquired the JJP casting business (but not shop premises) from Nick Tilson during the 1990s. Nick Tilson continued trading as N Brass Models by mail order and via exhibitions for some 32 years, retiring in 2024.
Mr King, born Tipton (West Midlands), was an avid modeller into his 90s, and formed JJP Models as, at the time, he could not find suitable parts for his own model building, so set about casting his own, which resulted in the formation of JJP Models. Following the sale of his business, Mr King relocated to mid Wales, where he continued model making for the remainder of his life.
Thanks to a grand daughter and friend of Mr King who, together, formed the basis of these notes.
