Jacob's Biscuits

(Dublin Ireland and Aintree England)

Jacob's Biscuits dates back to 1851 when W and R Jacob founded a bakery in Waterford, Ireland. The business moved to Dublin and subsequently opened a factory in Aintree, Liverpool in 1914, with a new English company created in 1922. Jacob's has produced various biscuit tins over the years, examples of which may be seen at the Brighton Toy Museum web site. Some tins were made with ornate wheels, including the caravan and Coronation coach illustrated below. It seems unlikely that the wheels or couplings fitted to the railway carriage are original.
