The Halsam Products company was created in the early 1940s by two brothers-in-law, Hal Elliott and Sam Goss, who put their first names together to form the company name. Ten years later they created Elgo Plastics Inc by putting together the first two initials of their surnames.
Halsam was known for wooden toys, such as building blocks and dominoes. Later, after the introduction of plastics, Halsam switched to plastic toys, including American Skyline, a construction toy used to build skyscrapers, as illustrated below.
