There seem to be contradictory stories regarding the history of FJ, or France Jouets. Suffice to say, it seems France Jouets was formed in Marseilles, 1946, and continued production until 1972, having absorbed the French company GEM in 1957. France Jouets produced a range of 1/43 scale die cast road vehicles, together with at least two H0 scale Autorails, one a single car, the other a two car set, as illustrated below. The single car Autorail has been noted in red and green liveries, the two car TEE set in silver and red liveries. FJ also continued production of a small tinplate range of 0 gauge trains which were made by Konrad Dressler on behalf of GEM. The GEM/Dressler models are interesting in that they are in German DB (Deutsche Bundesbahn) livery with French text and Made in France in English, suggesting possible exports to UK. The catalogue below is printed in both French and English.
