Josef Kraus and his cousins Milton and Julius Forchheimer formed their Nuremberg toy factory on January 24th, 1910, using the trading names Kraus, JKCo and Fandor (See Fandor). Milton and Julius Forchheimer emigrated to USA following WWI , and were followed by Josef Kraus after the National Socialists came to power in Germany.
Dorfan commenced production of 0 gauge trains in 1924, in both clockwork and electric versions, followed by Wide (Standard) Gauge in 1926, but, unable to weather the Depression, Dorfan ceased production in 1934. Dorfan tooling was subsequently acquired and used by both Unique Art and T-Reproductions.
