Dapol was formed by David and Pauline Boyne in 1983, purchasing the old Airfix and Kitmaster kit ranges and, in 1985, purchased Mainline, including earlier Airfix GMR model railways. Dapol also purchased the Trix and British Lilput range from Ernest Rosza in 1989, and, in 1993, the Wrenn tooling, dating back to Hornby Dublo. The Wrenn assets were sold to three Wrenn collectors in 2001, although much archive material was destoyed in a fire, in 1994.
Dapol currently produces model railways in scales N, 00 and 0, together with a range of ex Airfix and Kitmaster kits.
