There were, confusingly, two firms marketing steam engines using the Bowman name. The original firm, Bowman Models, was owned by Geoffrey Bowman-Jenkins, based in Dereham, Norfolk. Bowman Models manufactured stationary engines, boats and a steam powered 0 gauge railway system during the 1920s and 30s.
Following World War II, the Bowman name was purchased by Piece Parts and Assemblies Ltd. of Luton, Bedfordshire. Luton Bowman engines were produced during the 1940s, and featured four steam launches, together with four stationary engines.
