The Italian toy company Alemanni was founded by Leonida Alemanni in Casalpusterlengo, 1908. Alemanni Senior died in 1944, leaving the business to his sons who introduced clockwork (mechanical) trains in the 1940s and electric trains in the 1950s. The company became AMI LAC which produced a construction toy similar to Meccano, finally ceasing in 2011. For further details, please refer to the excellent Rivarossi Memory web site.
