Wilesco, the company, dates back to the early years of the 20th century, although as a manufacturer of kitchen utensils, rather than steam engines. Production of steam toys under the Wilesco name began in the early 1950s, the company having apparently gained experience by supplying steam engine parts under contract to Fleischmann, prior to WWII.
