Rex Engineering was formed by Bert Carpenter circa 1950, to produce S Gauge or Scale die cast locomotives and rolling stock, the first of which was the 0-4-0 Docksider in 1951, followed by the Suburban in 1953. Flat cars and gondolas followed in 1954. The business was sold to John Sudimak and Howard Phillips in 1961, forming S and P Distributors who introduced a Mogul and B6 0-6-0. The business was sold again in 1996, to Terry Putt of Putt Trains. Putt Trains is thought to have ceased trading circa 2015.
