This is one of the later electric sets, earlier models being unpowered. The electric sets were interesting in their day, being the first commercially available N scale models, although N was known as OOO at that time. The drive from electric motor was 'interesting', being an elastic band, rather than direct drive. The unpowered models were die cast metal, with rails of a similar style, plus various buildings and other accessories. A push along set for younger children was an excellent idea, although didn't become popular until Brio launched their larger, wooden, system many years later.
