
Yes, the clockwork locos were given a run, and performed very well. This view is of Hornby 0-4-0 pulling a rake of three coaches, in British Rail maroon livery. The clockwork locos ran very well on the K-Line track, and didn't foul the centre pickup rail, as I had feared. Best performance was with two locos, coupled nose to nose, pulling a train of six Hornby four wheeled coaches.
One early casualty was a Marx turnout which was replaced - the remaining siding can be seen at the rear of this view. The gap was filled with a Dinky track maintenence gang, comprising bulldozer, road roller, tipper lorry and mobile crane. Note the workmen's hut with brazier, which seems to be constructed from card, and is larger brother to the well known Master Models die cast item, in 4mm scale.
