Victoria Week, August 2009

The Ballater Royal Horticultural Society is one of the oldest in Britain, and this year celebrates the 150th anniversary of the first Ballater Flower Show held in 1859. To mark the occasion the Society is staging a special horticultural / floral exhibition in Glenmuick Church, from 5th to 8th August. Toy trains form part of the celebration, to commemorate the use of the railways, which transported horticultural products to and from the great estates in the area.

August is a busy month in Ballater, with the Royal Horticultual Show, Victoria Week, Highland Games and the arrival of F Company, Scots Guards, who are based in Victoria Barracks, Ballater, whilst serving Her Majesty The Queen, who stays at nearby Balmoral Castle for the summer.
