The outer loop has now been raised, to avoid a completely flat base board. The track bed is 1/4 inch ply, on to which is glued 1/4 inch fibre board. Below the ply are supports, giving a track height above baseboard of a little more than one inch. Side walls are hardboard (Masonite, in the US, I think), on to which will be glued brick paper.
