Hornby Series Locomotives

Hornby Post War Type 502 Locomotives

The Hornby Type 502 electric loco was produced from 1948 until c1949, in the liveries of both LMS and LNER. GWR and SR liveies are possible, but have yet to be confirmed (as at April 2025). Post war electric locos were made for export, and seem to be found mainly in Australia.

The loco illustrated has appeared for auction at least twice in the UK, and whilst possibly a genuine post war electric loco, is widely believed to be post war clockwork, with the 'clockwork' splasher replaced. The tender appears to be genuine post war.
