Hornby Series

Hornby No 1 Post Grouping Passenger Coaches

The No 1 post grouping coaches and guard's vans were produced from 1924, following the Grouping of Britain's railways the previous year. Initial models were fitted with clerestory roofs and issued in the liveries of the new LMS and LNER railway companies. These were followed by GWR models in 1926 and SR in 1928, at which point dark grey rounded roofs rather than clerestory roofs were fitted. Automatic couplings replaced drop links in 1931 and the roof colour changed to cream together with coloured bases in 1933-34. New bodies without opening doors appeared in 1934, with black bases and grey roofs. All four liveries were reintroduced following WWII, the main difference being the lighter grey roof colour.
