Pullman Cars, British, American and Mitropa

British Pullman Cars

The range of four wheeled British outline Pullman cars was introduced during 1928, production continuing in various forms until 1941, and not reintroduced following WWII. A total of eight different names appeared, No 0 Pullmans (1931-41) being named Aurelia, Marjorie and Viking, the No 1 Pullmans (1928-41) being Ansonia, Aurora, Corsair, Cynthia and Niobe. Composites (with guard's compartment) were Ansonia and Aurora, the remainder being coaches.

American Pullman Cars

The Hornby Series American Type Pullman Cars were produced from 1930 until 1941 with two names, Madison and Washington. The cars were available with both green and yellow bodies together with various combinations of black, red, yellow and orange bases and grey, red, cream and orange roofs.

Mitropa Cars

The No 0 Mitropa cars were produced from 1931 until 1941 in two forms only, the Speisewagen (Dining Car) and Schlafwagen (Sleeping Car), utilising the American Pullman body. Initial production models were overpainted American livery cars, then enamelled on plain tinplate and finally tinprinted.
