Critchley Brothers, originally Perkins, Critchley and Marmont was formed circa 1850 as pin makers, becoming a limited company in 1909. The firm produced munitions during WWI, and began using Erinoid, an early plastic, to produce knitting needles, crochet hooks and ferrules for electrical cable. Post WWII, Critchley products included knitting needles, hair grips, drawing pins, electrical accessories and flexible plastic piping together with toys for children, as illustrated below. The toy is a knitting set, contained in a card box which forms an attractive if toy like shop, of approximately 0 scale size. Critchley became a public company in 1992, and was acquired by Tyco Electronics in 2000.
