Fischertechnik

My knowledge of this German made system is limited, but having been introduced to the system by Belgian enthusiast Paul Van Damme, I really should find out more. What is Fischertechnik? A quote from the Dutch Fischertechnik club :

"Fischertechnik is a construction system with which operating scale models can be built. The material is made of plastic, mostly Nylon (polyamide). The essence of the system is a slide and clip construction, where ridges in a round, half open groove are slit. This leads to a firm and adjustable connection. Moreover, more connections can be added in various directions. The precision, which is used to produce the parts, is very high and unequalled for toys."
